MIES (Switzerland) – FIBA Global Suppliers Schelde Sports and Unilumin Sports have taken part in an exciting collaboration to provide an integrated LED screen in the backstop for the first time.

The Super SAM 325 PRO LED product is being showcased at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, providing added exposure for FIBA Global Partners to showcase their brand to millions of fans around the globe throughout the prestigious event.

The introduction of the Super SAM 325 PRO LED is further evidence of FIBA’s continuous drive to embrace technology and innovation.

The development of the new backstop also highlights the cooperation between two FIBA Global Suppliers in bringing a concept to life, underlining the added value that working with FIBA can bring.

The Super SAM 325 Pro is the worldwide standard for excellence. It is designed and produced by the inventors of the original SAM (Spring Assisted Mechanism) and DSF (Dynamic Sub Frame) backstop units.

The diamond-shaped safety padding gives this backstop a unique look and with the Pro-Action 180-degree multi-directional breakaway ring, the Super SAM 325 PRO is a top-of-the-line model and is FIBA Level 1 and 2 certified.

Schelde Sports is part of the ABEO Group and its CEO Olivier Esteves said: “Schelde Sports shares a common goal with FIBA in the desire of developing and promoting basketball to make it even more popular worldwide. This is why we are incredibly proud to introduce the new Super SAM 325 PRO LED at a pinnacle event like the FIBA Basketball World Cup.

“Including LED technology in traditional equipment is a hot topic nowadays, so therefore, we are very pleased that this new innovation is the result of a strong partnership between FIBA and Schelde Sports.”

James Li, Vice President of Unilumin, said: “Since establishing ourselves as FIBA’s official LED partner in 2019, Unilumin has been at the forefront of transformative display solutions, consistently elevating the spectator experience.

“This synergy of world-class basketball with our newest cutting-edge technology, the Backstop Unit Screens, reflects both Unilumin’s and FIBA’s unwavering commitment to offering a global audience a spectacle befitting a world-stage event.”

Frank Leenders, FIBA Media and Marketing Services Director General, added: “FIBA places a lot of value in the relationships that we build with our Global Partners and Suppliers. With this in mind, it’s even more satisfying when two of them, like Schelde Sports and Unilumin Sports, join forces to innovate and develop such a great product.

“This LED backstop provides other Global Partners with a platform for additional brand exposure, so it’s a win for all.”
