ABUJA, Nigeria (CHATNEWSTV) — The Nigerian Army has decorated Hajara Egbunu as an Army Warrant Officer (WO), the highest rank for non-commissioned officers, making her the first female soldier from the elite Infantry Corps and Nigerian Army Women Command (NAWC) to achieve this milestone.
Mathias Amatso, commander of the Nigerian Army Women Command, bestowed the new rank on Egbunu during a ceremony held Friday in Abuja.
“Her promotion reflects hard work, dedication, and effectiveness,” Amatso said at the event, describing Egbunu’s ascent as a landmark achievement in the Nigerian Army’s history.
He urged Egbunu to uphold her exemplary leadership and inspire younger soldiers, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the army’s core values.
