ABUJA, Nigeria (CHATNEWSTV) — Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, Chairman of the North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum, has firmly declared that there is no way President Bola Tinubu will be prevented from winning a second term in the 2027 presidential election. Zazzaga’s statement came in response to comments by Hashimu Suleiman Dungurawa, the chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano, who warned that Tinubu would face defeat in the next election due to his “anti-people” policies.
In a statement issued Friday, January 3, 2025, Zazzaga argued that Tinubu’s policies, including the removal of the fuel subsidy and the floating of the Naira, were necessary and beneficial for the country’s long-term growth. “There is no magic that will make Tinubu lose the presidential election in 2027,” Zazzaga said. “The President is doing well, and his achievements will be appreciated by Nigerians come 2027.”
Zazzaga continued, emphasizing the positive effects of the economic policies that have already begun to show results. “The policies introduced by President Tinubu, such as subsidy removal and floating the Naira, are necessary steps that had to be taken for the good of the country,” he added. “Already, the positive impact of these policies is being felt, and by the time the next elections come around, Nigeria’s economy will be fully repositioned on the path of sustainable growth.”
Zazzaga also commended Tinubu’s courage in making bold decisions that previous administrations avoided. “President Tinubu should be commended for his courage in taking the decisions, which became vital to the survival of the country because previous administrations failed to do the right things.”
Additionally, Zazzaga highlighted Tinubu’s proposed tax reforms, describing them as “pro-poor” and beneficial for small businesses. The North-Central APC Forum, according to Zazzaga, has endorsed Tinubu for a second term after evaluating his administration’s performance across various sectors, including security, infrastructure, and the economy.
“We believe that, with time, Nigerians will witness further reductions in the cost of petroleum products, which will reverse inflation in the country,” Zazzaga said, reiterating that Tinubu’s policies are already making a positive impact.
He also reflected on improvements in the security situation in the North-Central region, noting that the level of insecurity is now lower than during previous administrations. “The people can now go to farm to cultivate and harvest their crops,” Zazzaga noted.
The APC chieftain concluded by reaffirming that, just as it did in the 2023 elections, the North-Central APC Forum will actively support Tinubu’s reelection bid in 2027.
