President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has filed an emergency appeal to stop Chicago State University (CSU) from releasing his academic records and testifying under oath.
It could be recalled that News Band reported on Wednesday, September 20, that the United States Northern District Court of Illinois, Eastern Division, had orders the University to release Tinubu’s records to the former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The Court, while explaining why the institution must release Tinubu’s record to Atiku, also ordered its officials to appear before the court within two days to be questioned under oath.

must release Tinubu’s record to Atiku
Apparently rattled by the shocking discovery that will follow the discovery, Tinubu filed a late appeal to stop the execution of the court order.
Following the appeal, Judge Nancy Maldonado of the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois accepted the appeal.
The judge stayed the action on the release of documents by Chicago State University to the Counsel to Atiku Abubakar till next week Friday, September 29 morning when the Judge will sit!
Judge Maldonado agreed to delay the release of the academic records of Tinubu through his lawyers.
The lawyers had appealed against the release, saying that it would have severe damage to him.
In the meantime, Judge Maldonado ordered the defendant to produce a full brief of their arguments on Monday.
Tinubu’s attorneys are evidently moving to delay the execution of the judgement, questioning the authority of United States Magistrate Judge, Jeffrey T. Gilbert, dated September 19, 2023, No. 28 C 6099, entitled “RE: Application of Atiku Abubakar, for an Order Directing Discovery from Chicago State University Pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1782, as a magistrate judge to issue a final ruling.
In the emergency petition filed Thursday, Tinubu’s attorneys want Gilbert’s decision to be reviewed by the U.S. District Judge
