Dusseldorf – German arms maker Rheinmetall has secured a contract worth €21 million ($21.4 million) to supply five-digit quantities of 155mm M107 artillery ammunition to an “international customer,” the company announced on Monday.
The order, placed in December 2024, will be delivered in the first half of 2025, the Dusseldorf-based firm said in a press release.
Rheinmetall did not provide further information on the customer’s identity.
Rheinmetall noted that the M107 continues to be among “the world’s most widely used artillery projectiles.”
“It can be fired from a large number of 155mm weapon systems,” it said.
The ammunition will be manufactured by Rheinmetall Expal Munitions in Spain, the company said.
Rheinmetall has been increasing its production capacities since 2022, in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The firm aims to be able to produce up to 1.1 million 155mm artillery shells annually by 2027.
