ABUJA, Nigeria (ChatnewsTV) — President Bola Tinubu is expected to announce a cabinet reshuffle soon, according to his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. Speaking to State House correspondents on Wednesday, Onanuga disclosed the president’s intention to reorganize his team but did not provide a specific timeline.
“The President has expressed his desire to reshuffle his cabinet, and he will do it,” Onanuga said. “I don’t know whether he wants to do it before October first, but he will surely do it. That is what I will say, but he has not given us any timeline.”
The anticipated reshuffle comes amid concerns over the effectiveness of some ministers in communicating the administration’s achievements to the public. Onanuga noted that President Tinubu has instructed his cabinet members to be more proactive in showcasing their accomplishments.
“The President has given an order to all his ministers at the last Federal Executive Council meeting to go out there and speak about the activities of his administration,” Onanuga said. He added, “Some of them have been media shy, television shy, radio shy, and he wants them to overcome all that… they should go out there and blow their own trumpet.”
Tinubu’s administration, which took office earlier this year, has faced criticism for a perceived lack of visibility in terms of communicating progress. Onanuga emphasized that the government has been actively working, but its achievements need to be more publicly highlighted.
“The feeling out there is that the government is not doing enough,” he said. “But the government has been doing a lot. And it is up to them to go out there and talk about what their ministries have been doing.”
No further details were provided on which ministers may be affected by the anticipated reshuffle.
