Frankfurt – Former national team coach Joachim Löw has said that Germany is blessed to have young stars Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala who will face each other in Saturday’s Bundesliga topper between champions Bayer Leverkusen and leaders Bayern Munich.
“Both players have no upper limit. They are still at the start of their careers, but are already world class,” Löw told Sky TV.
“We are very lucky in Germany to have two such exceptional players who can play so dominantly at such a young age.”
The two 21-year-olds also known as “Wusiala” are shining brightly for club and country, and are also expected to play key roles on Saturday when the two top teams meet.
“I have very high expectations, because these are the two best teams in terms of play. They can play at the very best level,” Löw said.
Wirtz helped Leverkusen end Bayern’s run of 11 straight Bundesliga titles with their historic unbeaten season in 2024 but have now slipped eight points behind Musiala’s leaders.
“I think that Bayern will become champions. But I can imagine Leverkusen winning the game,” Löw said.
Leverkusen have not lost against Bayern in the last five meetings. They beat them 3-0 at home en route to last year’s title and 1-0 in Munich this season in the German Cup.
Löw said the game is “probably the last chance” for Leverkusen and that they “must win if they want to be involved in the title race.
“If Leverkusen don’t win Bayern won’t let them get away with it.”
