The Olubadan- in-Council and kingmakers in Ibadan on Friday appointed Oba Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin as the new Olubadan of Ibadan land.
Oba Olakulehin’s appointment as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadan was announced by the kingmakers at a meeting attended by 10 of the kingmakers held at the Olubadan palace, Mapo area of Ibadan.
At about 9:00am, hundreds of people including the kingmakers and other traditional chiefs stormed the Mapo palace to witness the official ratification and announcement of Oba Olakulehin as the new Olubadan.
The arrival of Oba Olakulehin into the Mapo palace venue of the meeting was greeted with loud ovation from Ibadan sons and daughters at the venue
Oba Olakulehin was nominated by the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Lateef Adebimpe at the meeting chaired by the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland and a former governor of Oyo state, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja.
Speaking with journalists after the endorsement of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja said the kingmakers had appointed Oba Olakulehin and would forward the name of Oba Olakulehin to Governor Seyi Makinde as the new Olubadan for his approval.
