WASHINGTON — The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has fired four Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) officials for bypassing leadership to approve “egregious” payments for luxury hotel stays for migrants in New York City, a department spokesperson said Monday.
“Effective immediately, FEMA is terminating the employment of four individuals for circumventing leadership to unilaterally make egregious payments for luxury NYC hotels for migrants,” the spokesperson said.
The dismissed officials include FEMA’s Chief Financial Officer, two program analysts, and a grant specialist.
The DHS statement emphasized that the department, under President Donald Trump and Secretary Kristi Noem, would not tolerate actions that undermine national policy.
“DHS will not sit idly and allow deep state activists to undermine the will and safety of the American people,” the spokesperson added.
