EFCC Orders Arrest of Rogue Officers Involved In Unprofessional Conduct

Lagos, 27 June 2024 – The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered the arrest of two EFCC officers allegedly involved in the manhandling of a female staff member at Regional Hotel, Ojo, Lagos.

The incident came to light after a viral video surfaced showing the officers assaulting the hotel staff during an early morning sting operation in Lagos. The operation resulted in the apprehension of a significant number of suspects who are currently undergoing profiling.

In a statement on Thursday Evening, Mr. Olukoyede expressed his dismay over the unprofessional conduct exhibited by the officers and has mandated a thorough investigation into the incident. “I have ordered a detailed investigation of the operation carried out at Regional Hotel. Any officer found culpable will face appropriate disciplinary measures,” he stated emphatically.

He reassured the public that the EFCC remains committed to executing its duties with professionalism and adherence to the rule of law. “The EFCC will continue to ply its job professionally and with profound respect for the rule of law,” Olukoyede affirmed, seeking to restore public confidence in the Commission’s operations.
