Stenbock House, October 5, 2023 – Prime Minister Kaja Kallas is set to participate in the European Political Community meeting and the informal European Council, scheduled to take place in Granada, Spain, on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
Prime Minister Kallas expressed her anticipation for the European Political Community meeting, emphasizing its significance in fostering collaboration and unity among European nations in the realms of foreign policy and security. “For Estonia, every such meeting serves as a catalyst for promoting a more cohesive foreign and security policy and enhancing practical cooperation among European countries,” stated Prime Minister Kaja Kallas. She further revealed that Friday’s discussions at the informal European Council would center around the European Union’s long-term strategic objectives, enlargement, and migration-related matters.
The European Political Community meeting has extended invitations to all European nations and EU institutions, with the exception of Russia and Belarus. The agenda for this gathering includes a joint plenary session and concurrent roundtable sessions. Prime Minister Kallas will actively participate in the roundtable session focusing on multilateralism, security, and geostrategy, alongside leaders from Andorra, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, Montenegro, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the President of the European Council.
In addition to these engagements, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas will hold bilateral talks with the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, to delve into the Western Balkans situation and explore avenues for bilateral cooperation.
