The leadership of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) have lambasted the South East security meeting held at Owerri by the leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, South East Governors, National Assembly members from South East, traditional/religious and opinion leaders from South East without involving the leaders of pro-Biafra organizations.
The Leader of MASSOB, Comrade Uchenna Madu, made the remarks in a press statement he issued and personally signed on Tuesday.
Comrade Madu described the charade security summit in Owerri as the same and inconsequential gathering of self acclaimed Igbo leaders who can’t stand the heat of defending the Igbo interest and democratic dividends in Nigeria.
He said that the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo that stood firmly for Justice and fought for the interest of Ndigbo was during the administration of Chef Nnia Nwodo.
According to him, his successor’s, Late Professor George Obiozor-led administration, was grossly compromised with personal political interest.
Madu observed: “Even his current successor, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu is yet to convince Ndigbo that he will not compromise the dignity and high esteemed nature of Ndigbo.
“Seventy per cent of escalated insecurities and fears in the South East region was as a result of the activities of the so-called unknown gunmen that was attached to Biafran agitation.
“There are more than twenty four pro Biafra organizations engaged in self determination for restoration and actualization of Biafra, many choose nonviolent methodology like MASSOB while few others resort to arms struggle.
“Organizing a South East security summit that involves the same politicians that fuels the insecurities in Igbo land will not solve the problem.
“Leading the so called Igbo political, religious and traditional leaders to Alhaji Bola TInubu in Abuja will never solve the insecurities crises in southeast region.”
According to Madu, only the unconditional release of Mazi Nnanmdi Kanu whom Nigeria Federal High Court has already discharged from DSS Cage will solve the insecurity question in southeast region.
“MASSOB is not begging the Nigeria Federal government to release Mazi Nnanmdi Kanu. There is no case charge against him now because he has been discharged by a Federal High Court,” he added.
