Wise Alerts Customers To Evolve Bank & Trust Data Breach, Confirms Continued Security

Must read

Tallinn, 30th June — Evolve Bank & Trust, a regulated financial institution, has recently experienced a significant data breach that potentially exposed some personal information of its clients. This breach impacts former customers of Wise, the international money transfer service, who used Evolve Bank & Trust for their USD account details between 2020 and 2023.

In a statement released by Wise, the company assured its users that their current Wise accounts remain secure.

“Your Wise account credentials, including your password, are safe, and you can use your account as normal,” a Wise representative stated.

The company emphasized that it no longer collaborates with Evolve Bank & Trust and has bolstered its security measures since ending the partnership.

The compromised data does not include identification documents, which Wise confirmed were never shared with Evolve Bank & Trust. However, Wise advises customers to remain vigilant about their financial activities outside of Wise.

“We strongly recommend that you keep an eye on your financial activity outside of Wise, including any accounts you may have linked to Wise,” the representative added.

Wise has launched a thorough investigation into the breach and confirmed that its systems remain unaffected. Users can continue to use their USD account details and Wise cards without concern, as these were not impacted by the incident.

Despite these reassurances, Wise acknowledges the potential anxiety this news may cause.

“We know that this news may be concerning, and we’re continuing to prioritize investigating the issue. If there are any important developments, we’ll keep you updated,” the company stated.

In light of the breach, Wise has urged customers to be cautious of any suspicious communications. They recommend learning how to avoid phishing scams and being wary of calls, texts, or emails requesting sensitive information.
